Unmethylated CpG motifs present in bacterial DNA (CpG DNA) induce innate inflammatory
responses, including rapid induction of proinflammatory cytokines. Although innate
inflammatory responses induced by CpG DNA and other pathogen-associated molecular
patterns are essential for the eradication of infectious microorganisms, excessive activation
