Background Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare multisystem disorder affecting
primarily women of child-bearing age, and characterized by cystic lung destruction, tumors
of the kidney (angiomyolipomas [AMLs]), and involvement of the axial lymphatics (
