In this, the 26th official report of the transplant registry of the International Society for Heart
and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT), we present information regarding almost 85,000 heart
transplants performed worldwide. As in prior reports, 1–5 we focus our principal analysis in
this report on recently transplanted patients—rather than the entire cohort of heart recipients—
in order to provide a contemporary representation of the state of heart transplantation.
