Excess aldosterone is an important contributor to hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
Conversely, low circulating aldosterone causes salt wasting and hypotension. Aldosterone
activates mineralocorticoid receptors (MRs) to increase epithelial sodium channel (ENaC)
