A case of apparently spontaneous chylothorax occurring in the newborn period is presented.
Only six similar cases are recorded in the literature, death having occurred in three. This
patient had a very benign course and recovered completely. Treatment should be
conservative since spontaneous recovery may occur; thoracentesis should be performed
only for relief of respiratory distress once a diagnosis is made.
