Although newer antiretroviral drugs are better tolerated than their earlier counterparts, they
are not completely devoid of adverse drug reactions, including hepatotoxicity. Monitoring
patients on antiretroviral therapy for treatment-emergent liver injury should continue to be
part of routine clinical care.
