Mitochondria play a central role in the production of reactive oxygen species as byproducts
of metabolism and energy production. In order to protect cellular structures from oxidative
stress-induced damage, cells have evolved elegant mechanisms for mitochondrial ROS
detoxification. The mitochondrial sirtuin, SIRT3, is emerging as a pivotal regulator of
