Hepatic glucose production by glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis is essential to maintain
blood glucose levels, and the glucose-6-phosphatase system catalyses the terminal step of
both pathways. Developmental delays in the postnatal up-regulation of hepatic glucose-6-
