Post-translational modification of nucleocytoplasmic proteins by O-linked β-N-
acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) has for the last 25 years emerged as an essential glucose-
sensing mechanism. The liver X receptors (LXRs) function as nutritional sensors for
