The nuclear receptors LXRα and LXRβ have been implicated in the control of lipogenesis
and cholesterol homeostasis. Ligand activation of these receptors in vivoinduces expression
of the LXR target gene SREBP-1c and increases plasma triglyceride levels. Expression of
