Bronchial epithelial cells are primary sites of airway viral infection, and these cells may play
an important role in the pathogenesis of respiratory diseases. It has recently been reported
that bronchial epithelial cells express RANTES. RANTES attracts monocytes, T cells,
eosinophils, and basophils; it can also activate eosinophils. To determine whether viral
