Ion and water transport by the kidney is continually adjusted in response to physiological
cues. Selective endocytosis and endosomal trafficking of ion transporters are increasingly
appreciated as mechanisms to acutely modulate renal function. Here, we discuss emerging
paradigms in this new area of investigation.
