Maternal phenylketonuria (PKU) syndrome results in multiple congenital anomalies in the
offspring, usually consisting of microcephaly, intrauterine growth retardation,
dysmorphology, and congenital heart disease. Pregnancies treated preconceptionally with a
phenylalanine-restricted diet and control of maternal blood phenylalanine levels within the
