Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) is a multifunctional glycoprotein that plays a critical
role in the pathogenesis of chronic kidney and cardiovascular diseases. Although
transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1 is a known inducer of PAI-1, how it controls PAI-1
