This article reviews research findings documenting the nature of nonverbal courtship
behavior compiled through both observation and self-report methods. I briefly present the
major theoretical perspectives guiding research methodologies used in the field and in the
laboratory. Studies of verbal courtship, including those conducted via computer, via text
