METHODS The data used in this study came from the Justification for the Use of Statins in
Prevention: An Intervention Trial Evaluating Rosuvastatin (JUPITER) study. JUPITER was a

METHODS

JUPITER was a randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter trial that examined the effect of treatment with 20 mg of rosuvastatin daily on risk of first major cardiovascular events in apparently healthy persons. Patients were selected to have low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels below current treatment thresholds (LDL< 130 mg/dL) but elevated levels of high-sensitivity CRP (hsCRP> 2 mg/L).
