Dendritic organization in the neurons of the visual and motor cortices of the cat

METHODS It has been found possible consistently to stain cortical neurons with the Golgi-
Cox method in the following way:(1) Cats are anaesthetized with nembutal (ether leads to
excessive bleeding) and pieces of cortex not more than 4 mm. thick are removed from the
living animal. These are rapidly rinsed in warm saline and put into about 50 ml. of the
staining solution in a small stoppered bottle, the tissue resting on a piece of cotton-wool.
Staining solution-to be freshly prepared
