Traditionally, asthma and allergic diseases have been defined by broad definitions and
treated with nonspecific medications, including corticosteroids and bronchodilators. There is
an increasing appreciation of heterogeneity within asthma and allergic diseases based
primarily on recent cluster analyses, molecular phenotyping, biomarkers, and differential
