The article describes the results of a survey conducted by the American College of
Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), during March-May 2007, to assess the knowledge
of and practices of obstetricians and gynecologists regarding congenital cytomegalovirus
(CMV) infection prevention. CMV in the US occurs in approximately 1 in 150 live births,
leading to permanent disabilities in approximately 1 in 750 live-born children.
