BACKGROUND/AIMS: The biological effects of ischaemic preconditioning include NF-κB
activation, increased TNF synthesis, stimulation of cell cycle entry and hepatoprotection
against ischaemia-reperfusion (IR) injury. Low dose TNF initiates the priming phase of liver
